In case you missed it: pop-up dinner + art experience

A big part of CoCollect’s vision is to grow support for the arts through education and community. We made good on that promise recently, beyond our memberships, with the launch of Supper Studies — a series of events designed to bring the creative community together over great art and artful food. And our first event did just that.

Interactive Printmaking Demos

Our partners at Flatbed Center for Contemporary Printmaking hosted us in their gallery space for the evening and led four different artist demonstrations in relief, intaglio, lithograph and screen. Guests experimented with the techniques, enjoyed some incredible apps (more on that below!) and walked away with a signed and editioned screen print by local artist, Carter Watkins.

About Flatbed Press

Flatbed is dedicated to creating and promoting the art and craft of contemporary printmaking. They have been supporting the Austin art scene and educating a broader audience about printmaking since 1989, with many of their artist’s works having been collected by major museums and institutions.

Pop-Up Dinner

Chef Colter Peck and his team at Elementary, Austin’s newest restaurant (opened July 28th), crafted a 4-course dinner for the night inspired by the printing techniques we all learned about. A trio of passed appetizers, a compressed peach salad, stamped short rib corzetti and a screen-printed black sesame cake were all to die for. With wine pairings from William Chris Vineyards, it was an incredible feast after Flatbed’s demonstrations.

Gallery Space

Setting the perfect backdrop for our dinner + art experience was a beautifully styled space from designers Jamie Williams and Michael Brown of Elysian Collective. From one-of-a-kind artful objects to gorgeous florals, the décor was artistry in itself and a wonderful way to bring everything together.

Supper Studies was an evening filled with a sense of inspiration and connection – which is what we hope to provide our members and their guests. Thanks so much to everyone who joined us. We’re already excited for the next one.

If you missed it, be sure to sign up to hear about future events.
